Kung Fu Panda

by webflux 10. November 2008 10:57

Watched Kung Fu Panda last night on blue-ray. http://www.kungfupanda.com/

I actually really enjoyed the movie, and it really does look spectacular on blue-ray. I almost need to watch it again instead of looking at how sharp and crisp animation details such as ear hair on the red panda (master blah, blah or whatever his name was). Absolutely recommend this movie to watch if you haven't seen it. I did find it odd that it was released on Sunday the 9th instead of the usual Tuesday release schedule. I guess just an atypical marketing ploy...

Hurricane Ike 2008 Sugar Land, TX

by webflux 14. September 2008 10:25

We were fine. Little scary on Saturday morning, especially around 4AM with the west eye wall passing us. Just got internet access back. I cant complain, some people will be without electricity for weeks.

Once in a lifetime trip...

by webflux 20. October 2007 09:32

After flying for however many hours, we stopped in New Delhi for the weekend on my way to Pune, India (business trip). The group decided to do a day trip to the Taj Mahal. The 120 mile (each way) trip took 7 hours to get there and almost as many hours back. I think I saw almost everything in one day including [sadly] someone being struck by a car in front of us and died on the road. This wasn't refreshing pit stop at all to get used to the 12 hour time difference, but I was completely exhausted after the trip (you can see it in my face) . And yes, it was a once in a lifetime trip... I will never do that again.

So Sad - Gator Road Kill!

by webflux 9. July 2007 11:27

Never seen a living Armadillo since moving to Texas, and now came across my first Alligator. Both are road kill... :(

With all of the rain lately here in Houston we have had a lot of flooding. Apparently it has allowed the alligators to come out of their normal hunting grounds and gone a little closer to home (our home). This picture is at the entrance of our subdivision of a little one who didn't quite make it. If the rain keeps up, it won't surprise me to see them in our subdivision lakes with all of the fish we have.

Week 3 - Another week off + Golf! :)

by webflux 20. April 2006 13:02
I skipped playing golf last weekend, but ended up playing a scramble on Monday. Was a lot of fun and got to play Greatwood Golf Club again. It was hot that day, I think it was record highs for this time of year (high 80’s) and got a nasty sunburn. I guess I need to remember the sunscreen next time. :)

Week 2 - Golf :)

by webflux 9. April 2006 23:07

Yesterday I went to Greatwood Golf Club and had a lot of fun. Real nice course and the carts had GPS so you could read the computer display in the cart for yardage info. I played 10 strokes better than I have since I moved to Texas. I guess being out of work pays off!

On the work front… I think I am busier now, than when working at the office. Even had an offer last week, but turned it down. :) I am definitely not bored.

Week 1 - Golf

by webflux 2. April 2006 15:35

Went to Classic 3 Golf Course yesterday on the North West side of Houston. Was a fun little par 3 course. Took a friend of mine for his very first round of golf. Lost of fun! :)

After 10 years of service....

by webflux 31. March 2006 02:57

After 10 years of service I decided to leaver Mercer HR Services. My last day was 3/24/2006 and have enjoyed my first full week off! Where I should be is here:

But I have been so busy with new job opportunities, there has been no time. :) Definitely not a bad thing, but I think I have been busier this week than when I was working... few.

BTW - Ignore the really bad golf swing. Apparently I will need a lot of practice time.

We are moving to Texas!

by webflux 21. September 2004 12:30

I have worked at Mercer Human Resource Consulting in Louisville, Kentucky for 6 years now as a System Architect. The opportunity has arisen to transition to a new role as a development manager in Houston, Texas. After a long and thoughtful (hopefully) :) process we decided to move to Houston Texas for this opportunity. Who knows where we will eventually end up, but for the next few years we will be living in the Lone Star State.
